A letter to our Draft Accounts: Pedal Pale Ale price rollback to our wholesale customers.
Note: This change does not effect retail prices for kegs or Growlers, as we never managed to change those in the first place.
Dear GOOD BEER Fans, As you’ve helped us grow over the last 7 years, we’ve been able make a LOT of improvements at the brewery, and with our beers. While we’re still pretty small, one benefit has been to reach a better Economy of Scale for some of our ingredient purchasing. In particular, we’ve seen plenty of volatility in the hop market these last few years, so we’ve hedged against some of that by signing long-term contracts for the hops we need to keep in supply. As a result of this, we find ourselves in an unusual place: The cost of brewing one of our most popular Seasonal Beers did not go up as we expected it would. We started off the 2012 Pedal Pale Ale season with a price increase, but now that we’re enjoying better hop prices, we’re going back to 2011 pricing price for this beer effective July 1, 2012. It works out to roughly 10 bucks LESS per keg than what you’ve been paying this year. Just to confirm, we haven’t changed the recipe or cheapened what we do to brew our beloved Pedal Pale Ale. And we haven’t started to brew it at the new brewery we’re building down the street. (Startup there is scheduled for Fall of this year.) We just got a better price on hops and figured we’d pass it along to you, our loyal Draft Customers. Thanks for your continued support, and for running all that Pedal Pale Ale! And maybe this will help you run even more. Cheers, Scott P.S. Hope to see you at the Reverse Keg Ride on Saturday October 27th! Watch the website for details on this charity event.
